Halloween at school!!

On the 31st October we celebrated Halloween at school! We had a jack-o-lantern contest and we also had a Halloween costumes contest. It was a really scary Halloween!

4th Comenius meeting in Slovenia

From 11th to 13th October our Comenius team in going to participate, together with all the other partners, in the 4th Comenius project meeting in Slovenia (Moravce), to plan and articulate more activities. This time 6 students from our school will also attend the meeting. They are: Íris Gomes, Bárbara Sá, Sara Costa, Rita Martins, Marco Brito and Miguel Sá (8B).
We are sure we will love sLOVEnia!

De 11 a 13 de Outubro a equipa Comenius da nossa escola irá participar, juntamente com todos os outros parceiros, no 4º encontro do projecto Comenius na Eslovénia (Moravce), de modo a planear e articular mais actividades. Google's homage to Amália

On the 23rd July it was possible to find an allegoric “doodle” of Portuguese Fado singer Amália Rodrigues. Doodles are known as the decorative changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists and scientists. The goal was to honour Amália Rodrigues on her birthday.

2010/2011 exhibition

At school we are presenting an exhibition with all the materials our students have made during this school year on our Comenius project topic "Now and Then - Insight into grandparents' times" and also a summary of our 3 meetings. Here are some pictures:

Universal Children's Day

The Group of Schools Foz do Neiva will celebrate next Thursday, 02 June, the World Children's Day. All children will be presented with various activities such as inflatables, carts, a painting studio and a few surprises.

Egas Moniz » Nobel-laureate neurologist and developer of cerebral angiography. He is best known for introducing the controversial psychosurgical procedure known as lobotomy. He died in 1955.

Aristides de Sousa Mendes » diplomat who saved 30,000 refugees seeking to escape the Nazi terror, 12,000 of whom were Jewish. He died in 1954.

Marie Curie's month

This month our library is celebrating at school Marie Curie's month with a series of exhibitions and materials on this famous Polish physicist–chemist, who is also the patron of our Comenius partner school Szkola Podstawowa Nr 11 in Poland.
Marie Skłodowska Curie was born in Warsaw, Poland. She was famous for her pioneering research on radioactivity and she was the first person honored with two Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry.

Europe Day

Europe Day is celebrated on the 9th May. It marks the EU's birthday and focusses on the aspects of peace and unity brought about by 61 years of European integration. We also celebrated it at our school with an exhibition of several cardboards made by the students.

Easter Rugs

Every year we organise at school an activity we call 'Easter Rugs'. And this year it took place on the 8th April, just before the Easter break.
Every class makes a rug on the school floor using flowers, petals, leaves and other natural materials. Below you can see some of the lovely rugs our students have made.

Carnival celebration at school

Carnival is a big celebration in Portugal. People often wear masks and costumes and there are big parades, dances and festivities for three days.
